I have never believed that my ideal client should be based off of their financial status but rather the type of person that they are. I want to provide great photography at an affordable price but that word means different things to different people. What is affordable for one, may be out of reach for another! It has always been a goal of mine to not only make a living as a photographer but to give back when and where I can with my photography. This goal led me to host sessions on a pay what you can model. These sessions happen twice each year and they fill up fast! Here's how it works - There is a small $20 reservation fee to officially book a session. This small fee helps ensure that each person/family booking a session is committed to arriving for their session. On the day of the session, each party brings an envelope with a cash payment inside that aligns with what their budget allows them to pay. If the $20 reservation fee is truly all they can afford at that time, then they can write a nice note and put it in the envelope instead (or they can do both!) This provides an opportunity for everyone to pay what they can afford.
